SOAR Program: Students On Academic Rise
The SOAR Program is designed to provide targeted academic support for students who are struggling to master grade-level skills. Through a combination of interventions and classroom accommodations, SOAR helps students reach their full potential and achieve their academic goals.
Who Qualifies for SOAR?
Students may be referred to the Learning Specialist based on academic performance, assessment scores, or a demonstrated need for additional support. For middle school students (grades 6–8), eligibility for accommodations requires formal documentation of a diagnosis. Please note that the diagnosis must clearly impact the student’s educational performance in order to qualify for services.
What Does SOAR Provide?
-
Individualized academic interventions tailored to each student’s needs
-
Classroom accommodations for eligible middle school students
-
Ongoing progress monitoring to ensure growth and success
Eligibility for the SOAR Program:
For Lower School Students:

-
Exhibits challenges with phonemic awareness (hearing and manipulating individual sounds)
-

-

-
Struggles with number identification and counting
-

Note for 4th Grade Students:
-
Students in 4th grade must be in the process of obtaining, or already have, documentation of a diagnosis that adversely impacts educational performance.
For Middle School Students (Grades 5–8):
-
Must have documentation of a diagnosis that adversely impacts educational performance
-
As with Lower School students, not all learning differences may qualify for support under the SOAR Program
-
Documentation is crucial for a thorough review by the Academic Support Team
Please note that even with a documented learning difference, your child may not necessarily require SOAR services. Additionally, the SOAR Program may not be able to support all types of learning differences.
Submission of complete documentation is essential for the Academic Support Team to conduct a thorough review. We encourage families to consult with the Academic Support Team, Mr. Danowski and Mrs. Jones, for individualized guidance.
Does Your Child Have A Learning Difference That Requires Accommodations Within The Classroom?
Saint Andrew’s Day School offers Student Success Plans for students with documented learning differences that significantly impact their academic performance. While we strive to support each student’s needs, please note that we may not be able to provide every accommodation.
To ensure a thorough review and the development of an effective Student Success Plan, submission of all required documentation is essential.
At Saint Andrew’s Day School, we are committed to providing the support every student needs to soar academically. For more information or to discuss your child’s eligibility, please contact our Learning Specialist, Eunice Jones.
