Mark Wagner

It is my great privilege to serve as the Head of School at Saint Andrew’s United Methodist Day School. 2020 will be my 7th year at Saint Andrew’s, and my 39th year working in independent schools. I hold an undergraduate degree from Towson University and a master’s degree from Johns Hopkins University.

I have enjoyed a fascinating, engaging, and rewarding career working in four excellent private schools in Maryland, Ohio, and Delaware. I have been a full-time teacher (upper school science, mostly) when I also served as a club advisor and soccer coach. I have held a variety of administrative positions, including Summer Programs Director, Dean of Students, Head of Upper School and, now, Head of School.

My wife is also a teacher, and my two grown daughters are graduates of a school where my wife and I both worked. So while some people say that school is like a family, for us that was literally true! We enjoy all range of outdoor activities, including hiking, biking, running, camping and, for me especially, birding.

Working at Saint Andrew’s is a joy. The teachers are smart, dedicated, and highly skilled. The families are supportive, caring, and engaged. The children are bright, kind, hard-working, and fun!
