Head of School's Welcome
Thank you for your interest in our school. Saint Andrew’s is a remarkable school with a rich, engaging environment that challenges students at every turn. Along the way our creative, dedicated teachers provide the kind of careful guidance and support that young people need to find success. While there is much to love about Saint Andrew’s, I encourage you to give special attention to these qualities that make our school distinctive.
A Spiritual Heritage
Founded in the Methodist tradition, Saint Andrew’s Day School is a welcoming community that invites families of all religious traditions to join us in the important work of helping young people grow into responsible, caring young adults. Embracing the challenge of educating both the hearts and minds of students, all aspects of the Saint Andrew’s experience are infused with the core values of kindness and respect. From its founding in 1986 Saint Andrew’s has positively impacted the spiritual lives of its students by embodying the Methodist credo: Open Hearts, Open Minds, Open Doors.
A Challenging, Highly Integrated Curriculum
From the moment they first enter Saint Andrew’s, our students are immersed in an enriching educational environment that promotes the development of productive work habits and the mastery of essential academic content and skills. Across all grade levels, St. Andrew’s teachers plan exciting interdisciplinary lessons. Artfully employing resources such as the Maker Space, our teachers plan educational experiences that encourage our students to think creatively and work collaboratively. The success of our graduates in high schools all over the Annapolis area is testament to the quality of our curriculum.
A ‘Green’ Culture
Since 2008, Saint Andrew’s has been recognized by the Maryland Association for Environmental and Outdoor Education as a Maryland Green School. Our commitment to sustainable practices and environmental education is apparent in projects such as the Aqua Ecosystem and the Terrapin Project. In collaboration with agencies such as the Baltimore Aquarium our students raise native fish, coastal plants, and a diamond back terrapin that are used in restoration projects around the Chesapeake Bay. Hands-on lessons employing resources like our Heritage Garden, our chicken coop, and our goats, Ivy and Joe, foster in our students a deep appreciation for the natural world and encourage them to be responsible environmental stewards.
Thank you again for your interest. We hope that you will enjoy learning about Saint Andrew’s and all that our school has to offer.
