Extended Care Staff

At Saint Andrew's since 1999

BS, University of Maryland
AS, Garland Junior College

I have been with Saint Andrew’s Extended Care for 5 years. Previous to this job, I taught science at Saint Andrew’s for 15 years. I also supervised the WIC nutritional program in Calvert County, MD for 2 years and have administered the Kumon math program in Bowie, MD.

During my years at Saint Andrew’s, I participated in numerous environmental workshops and, as a member of the Maryland Association for Environmental and Outdoor Education, I led Saint Andrew’s to become a certified Maryland Green School. As a science teacher, I worked closely with Mr. Vars developing the Garden Program and creating the Bluebird Trail.

My philosophy for Extended Day Care is to offer safe supervised activities with clear boundaries for unstructured playtime with limited age groups. I enjoy being back at Saint Andrew’s to interact with the faculty to ensure each child is adequately cared for. This is a time for the children to unwind and relax.

While my four children were growing up, I worked with their summer swim team program and ran a summer camp for MNCPPC, Little Theater. I now spend my time shuffling plants around in my small garden and wondering what my 11 grandchildren are doing. I also like to read and erected a Little Free Library in my neighborhood.
