I am the lower and middle school librarian at Saint Andrew’s with a passion for inspiring kids to become lifelong readers! Over the past 25 years of my teaching career I have taught language arts, social studies, and science with the intent to encourage reading for academics and pleasure.
At Saint Andrews I’ve created a robust library program that includes regular author visits, the Blue Heron Bookworm program, book fairs, and a yearly Read-A-Thon with kick-off party and lock-in. I helped establish a Makerspace that teachers can use to incorporate in their STEAM curriculum. Throughout the school year I offer clubs such as Fun with Fancy Nancy, Game Show Mania, and Cupcake Book Club.
I grew up in Texas and attended Texas State University where I received my Bachelor’s of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies with a focus in Reading and Fine Arts. I currently live in Annapolis and love having four seasons instead of just HOT. In my free time I love to read, craft, and watch indie movies. My husband and I are foodies and often spend our weekends exploring the DC area food scene. I have two furry, four-legged “children” named Guinness and Isabell.
I truly believe books build character, teach empathy, and allow children to experience lives outside of their own. It is my goal to fill the library collection with books that stretch student’s imagination, encourage them to look outside of themselves, and get them HOOKED ON BOOKS!
